Poem : The Apple Tree

A Korean nun once told me,

Soil, an apple tree can birth.

Branches and leaves illuminated,

Roots hidden deep within the earth.

Nature observes my earthly body,

Arms for branches and fingers for leaves.

Roots keep me planted in reality,

Soil provides my every need.

Not once have I been lacking.

No self improvement needed.

Within us deeply does reside,

An enlightened Buddha, seeded.

Nice! I find it interesting, in those times of presence and attention, all thoughts of becoming anything fade and no longer matter. It reminds me of my favorite Cheri Huber saying, “The quality of your life will depend entirely upon the focus of your attention.”
